Talon
Overview

Imp familiar in raven form. Saw Corian take the amulet. Consulted Dispater about it.
5e lookup: Monster Manual Imp. Not a rebuild.
Stat Block (5e 2014)
Talon Tiny fiend (devil, shapechanger), lawful evil
Statistics as Imp. Prefers raven form. Serves Vortigern by hellish pact (Dispater), not the 7th-level Improved Familiar gate.
If Talon dies, Vortigern gains two levels of exhaustion (5e stand-in for PF’s two permanent negative levels). Exhaustion from this cause is removed only by greater restoration or a long rest after the imp is replaced.
What changed from the Pathfinder original
Familiar death: PF two negative levels → two exhaustion levels (logged in _flags).
Fate
Killed at the farmhouse ambush in Session 01 - Sunday D&D Group, in the same fight as Vortigern. He reverted out of raven shape on death, so the party saw plainly what he was.
The two-levels-of-exhaustion clause never came into play: Vortigern died in the same encounter.
Before the ambush he had shadowed Corian for three weeks — a raven on a second-floor windowsill in Reme behind closed shutters, four times — and appeared once at the party’s fire on the road, close enough to be seen deliberately.
Relationships
- Serves Vortigern — Familiar by hellish pact, not by the Improved Familiar level gate
- Conceals Corian — Watched Corian steal the amulet; Corian has seen the raven at his window
